Brutus was a Houdini in a furry, four-legged package. One of my most memorable clients was a Great Dane named Zeus, a gentle giant with a surprisingly delicate disposition. He was petrified of nail clippers. I tried everything: positive reinforcement (treats, praise, the works), distraction techniques (loud music, squeaky toys), even aromatherapy (lavender oil, apparently, is not Zeus's jam). The golden retriever who developed an inexplicable fear of the hairdryer, transforming into a furry, four-legged tornado whenever it was turned on.
