About the Role:

As a Dog Behaviour Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive behavioural assessments, developing and implementing tailored training plans, and offering ongoing support to clients. Your duties will encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Conducting thorough in-home or clinic-based behavioural assessments of dogs exhibiting a range of problematic behaviours (e.g., aggression, anxiety, separation anxiety, destructive chewing, leash reactivity, excessive barking).
Developing and implementing individualized behaviour modification plans based on scientific principles of positive reinforcement, classical conditioning, and operant conditioning.
Providing clear and concise instructions and guidance to clients on training techniques, management strategies, and environmental modifications.
Tracking client progress and making necessary adjustments to training plans as needed.
Maintaining detailed client records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and communication logs.
Educating clients on canine behaviour, training methods, and responsible pet ownership.
Participating in team meetings and continuing education opportunities to stay abreast of the latest advancements in canine behaviour science.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, veterinary professionals, and other animal welfare organizations.
Marketing yourself and the company through social media and community events (depending on experience and company needs).
Occasionally working weekends or evenings to accommodate client schedules (flexible working arrangements can be discussed).

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in animal behaviour, veterinary technology, or a related field is preferred. Extensive experience in a relevant role may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a dog behaviour specialist or in a related role (more experience is preferred and will be rewarded with a higher salary).
Proven expertise in a range of behavioural modification techniques, including positive reinforcement, classical conditioning, and operant conditioning.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information to clients of all levels of understanding.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Professional liability insurance or willingness to obtain it.
Current driver's license and reliable transportation (as in-home consultations are required).
A passion for working with dogs and a deep understanding of canine behaviour.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
First Aid and CPR certification (preferred, but not essential).


Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
Experience working with aggressive or fearful dogs.
Experience in group class instruction.
Knowledge of various dog breeds and their specific behavioural traits.
Experience using video analysis tools for behaviour assessments.
Experience with canine rehabilitation techniques.
Fluency in a second language (especially Mandarin or Cantonese).
