About the Role:
As a Dog Behaviorist & Trainer in Shenzhen, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of services to our clients, including but not limited to:
Conducting initial consultations: Meeting with clients to assess their dog's behavior, history, and the owner's expectations. This involves careful observation of the dog's body language and behavior in different situations.
Developing personalized training plans: Creating customized training programs tailored to each dog's specific needs and behavioral challenges. This requires a deep understanding of canine behavior and learning principles.
Implementing training programs: Working directly with dogs and their owners to implement the developed training plans. This includes in-home sessions, group classes, and potentially some private sessions at our training facility (if applicable).
Behavior modification: Addressing challenging behaviors such as aggression, anxiety, separation anxiety, fear-based behaviors, and destructive chewing through positive reinforcement techniques.
Providing ongoing support and guidance: Offering continued support and guidance to clients to ensure the long-term success of the training program. This may involve follow-up sessions, phone calls, or email communication.
Maintaining accurate client records: Keeping detailed records of each client's progress, treatment plans, and any relevant observations.
Marketing and outreach (potential): Depending on experience and interest, you may be involved in marketing efforts to promote our services within the Shenzhen community.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications and attributes:
Proven experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a professional dog trainer or behaviorist, ideally with a focus on positive reinforcement methods. Experience working with a variety of breeds and behavioral issues is essential.
Certification or accreditation: Certification from a reputable dog training or behavior organization (e.g., Karen Pryor Academy, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT)) is highly preferred. Relevant university degrees in animal behavior or related fields are also advantageous.
Deep understanding of canine behavior: A comprehensive understanding of canine psychology, learning theory, and body language is crucial.
Proficiency in positive reinforcement techniques: Extensive experience and expertise in utilizing positive reinforcement methods, avoiding punishment-based training approaches.
Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with clients, providing constructive feedback and guidance in a patient and understanding manner. Fluency in Mandarin and English is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to build rapport with clients and their dogs, creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Physical stamina and fitness: The job involves physically demanding tasks such as handling dogs of various sizes and breeds.
Problem-solving skills: Ability to assess challenging situations, adapt training methods, and provide solutions to overcome behavioral obstacles.
Valid driver's license (preferred): A valid driver's license is preferred, but not mandatory, depending on the specifics of the role and service area.
Passion for animal welfare: A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the best possible care for dogs.
